The mission of the Derrick Kirk Foundation is to help set underprivileged and underserved youth on a path to success. Derrick believes that when the impact of misfortune is lessened, youth are better able to focus on achieving their goals. The Foundation embodies his objective to help level the playing field and allow these youth to feel good about themselves, as well as their chances in life, by offering the following programs.
The Foundation expands its reach to single parents to help ensure that the home life of youth it aims to serve cultivates a productive environment. Derrick understands that it is difficult to focus on schoolwork or anything else when worried about how your mom will pay the bills or where your next meal will come from. It is also difficult for a parent to focus on their parental duties when this is the case. Offering assistance to mothers and fathers is an important factor in reaching their children. This is not simply about meeting basic needs. Providing things such as cars and tutoring go beyond this. The Derrick Kirk Foundation is about empowerment. It is about helping our young people not just get by in life, but excel.
